This week, another project draws closer to becoming a real, live finished piece of art. Ryan Morris is putting the finishing touches on the book “The Hidden,” a zombie tale set in the 1950′s. Check out the goodness of that cover.
In celebration of the nearly finished book, this week I wrote a short 4-page preview story that will serve as a prologue to the upcoming 30-page story. I really had a blast getting to write these characters, and the script came out in a hurry. Writing pulpy horror stories set in the 1950′s is an absolute joy, and Ryan and I have become so familiar with these characters in the amount of time it has taken to put this first issue together. He, as the artist, has obviously had much more time, but we’ve been revisiting the characters and their motivation for future issues. Most of the time, I usually write on tale with a group of characters, and then I am done with them. So, having the opportunity to return to this group and try to look for areas where they can continue to progress is a real treat.
